Join Jon Dixon, Head Gardener at Old Allangrange, in this hands-on workshop for beginners.

This course will cover all aspects of pruning fruit trees to maintain a healthy shape and size, and to maximise long-term fruiting. You will learn the theory and practice of winter pruning, including formative and restorative principles, and will work on various examples of mature, young standard and espaliered apple and pear tree forms across the garden here at Old Allangrange. The theory of stone-fruit pruning will also be explored.

Organic tea, coffee and cake provided. Please bring weatherproof clothing and footwear. If you have sharp secateurs, loppers and warm gardening gloves, please bring them with you. We also have tools that you can borrow.

Arrive 9.30am to start at 10am - 1pm - Meet in the Workshop Classroom (ask for directions at the Black Isle Brewery shop if unable to find). 

We reserve the right to cancel workshops if not enough participants are registered. In this case all workshop fees paid will be fully refunded.
