You’ll learn how to set up and handle a scythe safely along with core scything techniques before heading into the field for practical mowing. After a lunchtime discussion on haymaking and land management, you’ll return for more hands‑on practice and finish with a session on blade care and peening.
Ian is a professional gardener and woodland manager specialising in traditional land management techniques. Having discovered the efficiency and environmental benefits of scything while working in New Zealand, he now teaches and promotes the use of the modern Austrian scythe through workshops and community projects across Scotland.

Meet at the Workshop Classroom at 9.30am for a 10am start - 5pm. Ask at the brewery shop if unable to find.
Please bring all weather clothing.
