Friday 17th - Saturday 18th April 2026

Join us for a two-day workshop with the Director of the Scottish Society of Botanical Arts, Julie Price.

Improve your existing skills in watercolour and move on to the next level of detail in your work. In this course, Julie will demonstrate accurate observation and drawing, along with the materials, techniques and paints she uses. You will be able to choose your own subject from the gardens at Old Allangrange, either as an individual subject or as a composition of multiple specimens to study in a studio setting. Arrive 9.30am for a 10am start - 4pm. Meet in the Workshop Classroom (ask from directions at the Black Isle Brewery shop if unable to find).

On both days, participants will need to bring:

  • a packed lunch

  • pencil/rubber/ruler

  • watercolour paint brushes (with good points)

  • paper (preferably hot pressed)

  • watercolour paint brushes

  • a palette or plain white china plate or saucer

  • a rechargeable lamp if you need extra lighting indoors

  • kitchen towel or cloth

There will be a small selection of brushes and hot-pressed paper available to buy.

Organic tea, coffee and cake will be provided.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops if not enough participants are registered. In this case, all workshop fees will be refunded.
