Organic Production

What it means and why it matters

Changing the world – one beer at a time. If we are what we eat, then surely, we are what we drink too?

At Black Isle, we believe in working with nature, so you won’t find chemical fertilisers or pesticides in our ingredients or on our organic farm.

The Facts:

  • Plant, insect and bird life is up to 50% more abundant on organic farms
  • 90% of the UK’s wild bee population and half of farmed hives have been lost since the dawn of intensive industrial farming in the 1950s
  • Globally, one out of every three mouthfuls of our food depends on pollinators such as bees

Supporting organic farmers and growers safeguards the future for us all.

Brewery Fact:

As organic brewers, our hops and barley can sometimes cost up to three times more than non-organic varieties - but we believe that some things are just worth paying for!

Sure, it’s less productive, but it’s much more diverse. Where we lose in tonnes per acre, we gain beautiful wildlife. The whole ecology of the place has improved.” Black Isle’s motto is “Save The Planet Drink Organic”.
