Based in the centre of Inverness, our hostel is conveniently located only minutes from both the train and bus stations. Bringing brewery life to the city, it’s a bright and unique base for exploring the streets and trails of the Highlands. Only a short walk around the corner, you’ll find our Black Isle Bar – perfect for a beer and homemade, wood-fired pizza.

From town, it’s easy to access other areas of the Highlands by road or public transport. The Great Glen Way is walking distance from the hostel and is a lovely route to walk, run or ride.

We’re open all year round, except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

Hostel Rooms

We have 10 mixed dormitory rooms, which cater for 4, 6 or 8 guests. At each bed you’ll find a reading light, as well as USB and power sockets too – no issues trying to claim the only plug in the room!

There are two communal bathrooms available – one for men and one for women. If you need a towel you can hire one for £2 at reception.

Private Rooms

We also have private rooms with en-suite above Black Isle Bar. These bar rooms that are perfect for solo travellers, couples, and families. If you’re booked to stay here we ask that you still check in at the hostel reception. From there the rooms are accessed through the bar; only a short walk down the street.

Check In

All guests staying in the shared dormitory rooms should check in at the main hostel reception, which is open from 8:30am – 8pm. Check-in for our shared dorm rooms is from 2.30pm.

Dogs are always welcome at our bar and private rooms. They are permitted in hostel dorm rooms if the room is fully booked by the same party. The cost for your dog to stay is £10.

At the hostel, we have a range of modern facilities for you to use during your stay with us.

Relax In Our Lounge

Our lounge and dining area are great for relaxing, socialising and planning your adventures in the Highlands. We often have a range of maps, books and games to inspire your travel and keep you entertained!

Cook In Our Kitchen

There’s a small kitchen with two induction hobs, a microwave and a toaster for you to use if you fancy a night in. Our lounge has wooden benches and tables, which are perfect for a social meal together.

Store Luggage & Bikes

For guests with lots of luggage, we have a store room, as well as a secure bike storage for those travelling on two wheels. We know wet and wild weather in Scotland, so we’ve also added a dedicated drying room with underfloor heating  – perfect after a day in the hills.

Visit Black Isle Brewery

Come and meet us on The Black Isle at our organic farm and brewery.

We run daily tours and free tastings, so you can sample our latest beers and experience life outside of the city. Each year WWOOF’ers also come to stay with us at our bothy, helping us with farm life.

If you happen to be here in September, we have an annual event called Jocktoberfest – where it’s all out music, beer, and camping for all the family.

Eat & Drink With Us

Just down the street from the hostel is our bar, which has over 100 beers from our own brewery, and from around the world too. Our wood-fired pizzas are legendary, so pop along and try one fresh from our pizza oven.

Getting to us at the hostel is easy as we’re right in the heart of Inverness and a short walk from the train or bus station.
