We’ll announce the date for the next Jocktoberfest in the early months of 2014, so stay tuned…

Nobles Tap Takeover 2013

In just under a week Black Isle Brewery will again be taking over the taps at the wonderful Nobles. As well as bringing ourselves there will be beers you know, beers you don’t and twists on our usual beers.<

On Keg:
Blonde
Goldeneye
Red Kite
Porter
Introducing: Cask Aged Black Run

Cask:
Unfined and Extra Hopped Nobles Ale
Breakfast Beer
Last chance to try: Oak Aged Hibernator

From the very talented Nobles kitchen there will be a special menu with beer pairings for each dish. Reservations can be made on 0131 629 7215.

If you have not heard of or tried the Black Run then this will be special. Not only is it our strongest beer at 8.4% this imperial stout is also our hoppiest. The un-aged version was released last December with a limited release of 501 bottles. For the last three months the remainder of the brew has been aging slowly in wooden casks borrowed from Tomatin distillery. It has been hibernating in single whisky fill sherry casks, single whisky fill bourbon casks and triple fill whisky casks. For our take over at Nobles we will have a mixed version of the triple fill whisky and single fill bourbon.

As with all our events you will get to meet the hard working people behind the beer as well as having the chance to win some Black Isle goodies.

Food will be served and drinks will be poured from 5pm Wednesday 27 March 2013 at Nobles Bar, 44a Constitution Street, Leith, Edinburgh.

We look forward to see you there.

New Beer in Town

The month is almost over with many/ most resolutions forgotten. We believe in continuing the year as we started. Drink in hand. To celebrate the end of January we are launching a brand new beer and having a Meet the Brewer event to give you all the chance to try it.

Colin “Mr Brewer Man” Stronge and friends will be heading down to Edinburgh to the delights of The Waiting Room for a night of some very special aged beer and exciting new beer just days out of the conditioning tank. We will of course have all the beers you would expect at a Black Isle Brewery event along with a chance to win some excellent prizes including tickets for the 2013 Black Isle Shindig in April.

Salone del Gusto 2012

First morning

Lewis and Richard are just back from the most exciting and interesting food and drink events anywhere on Earth.  Slow Food did a brilliant job of getting together a staggering number of small scale farmers, producers and community projects in one place for over 20,000 visitors to see whats out there.  Along with all the stalls there were seminars and tastings.  This  included a beer and cheese pairing with Lewis as one of the speakers.

Lewis at the stand

Over the course of five days the people of Italy and the rest of the world got to sample our full range of beers and a few special ones at the Salone del Gusto in Turin.  For most it was the first time they had tried our beers but it was also fantastic to speak to the Italians, Swedes, Finns and French who had already tasted it in there home country as well as a few who had actually toured the Brewery.

Brewery visitors

Our friends at Ales & Co. were running the British Bar at the event.  They were tearing through the Black Isle bottled and kegged beer at such a pace it was all gone long before the festival finished.  Here are the bar team enjoying a very well deserved, first taste, of the cask conditioned Porter.

Well deserved beer

A big thank you to Ales & Co for getting Italians drinking organic Scottish ale, Slow Food for organising the whole thing, Slow Food Edinburgh for helping us over there and to all friendly people who came to say hello.

We hope to see you all at the next Salone in two years time.

Spring into the season with a Black Isle Brewery barbeque

Tis the season to be grilling… almost!<

On Saturday 7th April we’ll be hosting a barbeque at the brewery from 12pm until 4pm. <

Pop along and enjoy some organic, Black Isle reared burgers, sausages and veggie treats.

What better way to thank the sun gods for shining upon the Black Isle, than to send up some lovely wafting barbeque smells. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they’re still smiling on us on Saturday!

We look forward to seeing you here.

A Noble event…

Black Isle hits Glasgow in Bruadar

As the world of beer continues to evolve at an exciting rate, beer lovers are seeing the benefit in the shape of some forward thinking bars. An excellent case in point is the imminent opening of Bruadar in Glasgow. Formerly the Millhouse at the foot of Byres Road this has been taken over by Fuller Thomson, the company responsible for the Holyrood 9a and Red Squirrel in Edinburgh and Dukes Corner and Drouthy Neebors in Dundee.

Millhouse

The new name means ‘a dream’ and for drinkers in Glasgow that may very well be the case. The bar will boast 20 draught beer lines to match a menu of 20 burgers and some well stocked bottle fridges.

Fans of Black Isle can expect a treat as our Blonde, Goldeneye and Porter will all feature on keg, plus a rare outing for Molly’s Vanilla Porter and the Chilli Porter on cask.

Opening night is Monday December 19th, we’ll be there and we hope to see you too.

Cheers

Total Tap Night at Cloisters Bar

Cloisters

You might have noticed that of late we have all been just a little bit busy. We’ve got a new brewer, new shop manager, we’re sending kegs to Sweden, bottles to Switzerland, and generally been having a lot of fun in the meantime.

We thought it might be nice if we shared some of that fun, so on November 9th the entire team shall be at Cloisters bar, Edinburgh and we are bringing some beer with us…. ten draught beers in fact.
On the night you will able to try a kegged Black Stout, Chilli Porter and Pacific Red and a cask Coffee Porter and Scotch Ale. All of which are new beers and in all likelihood one off’s. We will also have some favourites on both cask and keg.
During the evening we will be running free raffles for a chance to pick up some of our brand new merchandise, taste our new Bruichladdich aged stout and take part in a whisky/beer matching session.
We will also be running a charity raffle with a chance to win a pretty cool prize, but if you want to know what that is, you have to turn up on the night.
We will arrive around the 7pm mark, but Cloisters chef Lee will be turning out a whole host of Black Isle based dishes from 5pm for those who feel it prudent to line their stomachs beforehand.
Be there or be somewhere else, probably having less fun than us. We look forward to seeing you all at The Cloisters, 26 Brougham Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian EH3 9JH
