Two Day Course - Make your own basket
December 8th & 9th 2022
10am to 4pm - Ticket price: £150
Learn how to weave with local basketmaker, Tim Palmer, and make something beautiful and sustainable for your home, garden or for a Christmas present.
“Having made baskets intermittently from school days, basketmaking became a more important part of life after moving to Inverness in 1990. Initially a relaxation from NHS work, it is now a major part of post-retirement life. Making is combined with a busy teaching schedule, which encompasses all ages and levels of experience. Teaching has taken place at many venues over the years in the Highlands and Grampian.
Although most of the making and teaching uses willow and traditional techniques, willow and birch bark, larch and birch twigs, rush, New Zealand flax, and cordage made from hair moss, willow bark, day lily and rush can all be found in his work. Forever looking for new sorts of baskets to try, the style and scope of the work is forever expanding. Irish, British, Swedish, French, German, Dutch and Spanish styles and techniques all feature, and baskets may acknowledge a variety of influences.”
