Mission Text

Our mission is to produce a range of top quality organic beers packaged in recycled materials. The barley and hops used are grown on organic farms, without artificial fertilisers or herbicides. We at Black Isle Brewery believe that our beer is the best for both you and the environment.

Soil Association judges said: "Seductive honeycomb and beeswax scent and taste. Very fine floral palette with a fine faintly muscat scented finish. Admirable and unusual level of complexity, lots of well balanced different notes."

Beer Range

Note all beers are certified organic and vegetarian.

BLACK ISLE ORGANIC COLD FILTERED BEERS
Our fresh, cold filtered unpasteurised beers are best drunk within a few months of purchase. Ideally serve at cellar temperature 11-13°C to enjoy the full flavour of these distinctive beers.

• Yellowhammer
A golden, straw coloured bitter, brewed with Cascade hops adding a flinty, grapefruit aroma that is deliciously refreshing.

• Red Kite Ale
Amber coloured, Red Kite is brewed with best quality malt and Goldings hops to create a satisfying balance of citrus and malt in this deliciously quenching ale.

• Blonde
A premium quality continental style lager beer made with Hersbrucker and Hallertau hops. Pale yellow, with a light biscuit palate and a fresh grassy aroma.

• Heather Honey
This wonderful crisp larger is modeled after the very popular Blonde but heather honey is added giving it a mild honey aroma and finish.

• Hibernator II (Seasonal)
This tawny coloured ale is secondary fermented in the bottle. Made from fresh quality water, malt, hops and yeast it is a strong ale with a wonderfully rich aroma and flavour of fruitcake, treacle and plum.

BLACK ISLE ORGANIC LIVE BOTTLE CONDITIONED BEERS
Our Bottled Conditioned beers are naturally fermented for a second time in the bottle, in a similar way to the production of Champagne. This results in a light sediment of yeast in the bottom of the bottle. It is full of Vitamin B and is good for you!

• Wheat Beer
A semi-cloudy Belgian style wheat beer brewed with orange and coriander. Either pour carefully to leave the yeast in the bottom of the bottle, or swirl the last drop around the base and pour onto the head of the beer.

• Scotch Ale
Black Isle Scotch Ale is brewed using peat smoked malt and wild Bog Myrtle giving a lightly smoked, toasted flavour and herbal aroma to this unique red ale. Good with haggis and black pudding, or with some home made fruit cake.

• Porter
Brewed with dark roasted malts producing a rich medium dry ruby-black beer.
